Just quietly, I’m pleased with the amount of things that I managed to get done this week, not because it was a lot, but because I have had a bad mental health week and I still managed to make things, video them, and edit this super short 1 minute video.
Whether by brilliant coincidence or planned genius, the first rest week of the Alphabet Superset is the second week of the school holidays and I’m going to get some work done without worrying about videoing things.
I don’t have much more to add to my brief comments in the video, but I do highly recommend Domestika as a platform. I’ve completed quite a few classes and collected quite a few more that I’m going to do work on in the coming weeks. I really like that you can buy one off classes rather than having to be tied into a subscription model (though they have one if that’s better for how you work) The teachers are all professionals with amazing and unique styles and I find that I always learn something. The additional resources are high quality and the structure of the classes lets the teachers share their own personal influences and inspirations which has introduced me to so many new artists and makers.
Downsides are that I don’t speak Spanish or Portuguese so I have to sit and read the subtitles for many lessons rather than just listening as I do things - and as I mentioned, the older classes have less reliable subtitles (really this is a minor gripe). There are a lot more English speaking teachers now and some classes have dubs so when I’m feeling very impatient I can listen (and understand) while I work.
Please pardon my poor light quality and sound - it’s so much more natural for me to work at night (as I am now) and it doesn’t make for good video. The sound I have less excuses for, but I’ll work on it.
See you in a fortnight.
E.
